Daily Gratitude Year 13 - Day 14: Today, I am grateful for seatherny.
Seatherny (n.) – The serenity one feels when listening to the chirping of birds.
What a great word! Growing my vocabulary has been one of my favorite things since my 6th Grade teacher and nearly life long friend gave me my first thesaurus. A thesaurus is a magical book. For me, opening one up is as good as a trip to the proverbial candy store.
We have had some rainy mornings this week. As I have been writing my daily gratitude, I have missed the morning birdsong. I miss the seatherny. It mixes perfectly with the Word, a tall glass of water, the dog, and the Love of my Life nearby.
Simple delights are some of the best. I have been grateful for the birdsong, but not for the feeling created. Even simple the most simple points of gratitude have more if we dig a little deeper.
"And I have given every green plant as food for all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, and the small animals that scurry along the ground—everything that has life.” And that is what happened." -Genesis 1:30
They sing because they can. They sing recognizing God's provision. They sing so that we may pause and listen.
Today, I am grateful for seatherny.
