Words of Wisdom

Daily Gratitude Year 13 - Day 140: Today, I am grateful for words of wisdom.

I love to collect quotes. I always have. I used to put them on the back of the bathroom stall doors when I was a Resident Assistant at Olivet. I enjoy matching the quote with a Bible verse. It was not hard. Wisdom comes from His word. The note cards made me smile and think the girls on my floor enjoyed them, too. 

Wise words are like a candle lit in a dark room combined with honey. They are sweet, illuminating, and they stick to us.  

"Wise words come from the lips of people with understanding, but those lacking sense will be beaten with a rod." -Proverbs 10:13

Wisdom grows when we spend time in the right places. What we read and the people we hang out with matter. There are consequences for acting without thinking or seeking good guidance. It may not be an actual beating, but it is ample fodder for memes and funny t-shirts, cards or dish towels. 

Honestly, if we all read a little from Proverbs every day, we would be wiser. I had a friend who did that with his family as a devotional. It is a great idea!
