Daily Gratitude Year 13 - Day 265: Today, I am grateful for good observations.
"Jesus Christ went more willingly to the cross, than we do to the throne of grace." Thomas Watson
Thomas Watson lived in the 1600's. These words are still so true today. He asked to be spared the suffering of the cross, but the answer was "no." He surrendered his human desires and said "yes" to God's plan for our redemption. He knew he was "The Lamb of God" who would change the course of eternity for all who would believe and receive. Jesus did the hard thing, yet we resist the best "yes" of our lives.
The world today is full of more stuff than ever before. It is, also, full of more emptiness. Stuff will never satisfy.
His peace passes all understanding. It is what carries believers through brokenness.
This weekend, a young widow echoed Jesus' words, "Father forgive them, they know not what they do." about her husband's murder. You could have heard a pin drop. Then she said, "I forgive you." Broken and sincere.
The world keeps saying, "We can do better." The truth is... not on our own. Our God is perfect love.
"There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love." 1 John 4:18
His grace is deep, full, and sufficient. Our part is full surrender.
Today, I am grateful for good observations.
