In the Midwest, we can look out our window and see a kaleidoscope of colors in the trees and on the ground. The trees dance in the autumn winds and eventually, the leaves float to the ground. It is incredible.
These past few years, I have tried to be more intentional about pausing to take in the beauty and not let the coming winter defeat my spirit, as I do not love the cold. Winter has its own unique gifts. The same is true for spring and summer.
I love that we have seasons. I would miss them if I lived in a different place. We have seasons in life, too. Each one comes with beauty and struggles. Every season has dozens of reasons to be grateful, if we take the time to look for them.
"As the Scriptures say, “People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades. But the word of the Lord remains forever.” And that word is the Good News that was preached to you." -1 Peter 24-25
Embrace the beauty and the challenges of each season. It is still harder for me when the temperatures drop below freezing, but with the change in temperature comes the changing leaves and the beauty beyond my window. Perspective is powerful.
Today, I am grateful for the seasons.
