Summer is coming to a close for many as school resumes soon in our area (8/11 for teachers and 8/12 for students). Families are squeezing in the last opportunities for summer getaways. I saw this "recipe" and was reminded of what makes summer sweet.
No schedule to keep. Sunshine, blue skies, and dancing in warm summer rains. Bare feet on green grass. A "swimming hole" with or without chlorine. Playmates, animals, nature's obstacle course, flowers, and of course... ice cream.
It sounds heavenly, right? It made me think of this verse:
"But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” -Matthew 19:14
Children do not hold back their enthusiasm. They are all in for any adventure. It is always better with friends. They are uninhibited in worship and at play. What a beautiful sight they must be from God's perspective.
Today, I am grateful for a recipe for preserving children.
