Word Power

Daily Gratitude Year 13 - Day 272: Today, I am grateful for word power.

This is a wonderful collection of scriptures about the power, dangers, and consequences of our words. I am not sure which one is my favorite. Scriptures work together to help teach and mold us. It is good to write them on our hearts in our youth when it is easier to memorize.

Each one has a specific truth, observation, or warning.

"Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person." -Colossians 4:6

The right words at the right time are a powerful thing. They can be healing. They can wound a soul. Is it any wonder there are faith traditions where silence is practiced intentionally.

On the other side of silence, is the need for human conversation to alleviate the loneliness that even a "busy" life can deliver. We learn from each other. Words of celebration, hope, and healing are more than kindness. They can change someone's day.

Today, I am grateful for word power.
