Daffodils
Year 4-Day 69: Today, I am grateful for the courage and color of the daffodils.
When the earth is still cold and true Spring has not yet sprung...some of the courageous first flowers begin to sprinkle the earth with color. The crocus will brave the snow with it's purple pop of color...but the earth delights in the daffodil!
It is a real sign that we are about to truly shed the cold chains of winter. New life and longer days put a new spring in our step.
Yellow blooms that shine like the sun in happy little clusters. How can a person not smile? I know there are other colors, but the yellow blooms...for me...are the best!
Common sense says...it is still early and winter may have on one last icy show...the daffodil blooms anyway.
The calendar says it is just too early...the daffodil blooms anyway.
The weather man says...a cold snap is around the corner...the daffodil blooms anyway.
"Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. Luke 12:27 NIV
The daffodils don't worry about the length of their stay...they delight in the moment. They dance in every unseasonably warm breeze and brave the cold when it returns...until it is simply too cold or they are too tired. Their season is short...but they live it out in full blown color.
Daffodils are on their way.
Today, I am grateful for the courage and color of the daffodils.
