"I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return." -Philippians 1:9-10
This is a beautiful passage. It is full of the good stuff. Do we pray for a love that grows and overflows? Note a growing and overflowing love is the first request. The second is a petition to God to keep growing in knowledge and understanding. A worthy request because when you combine them, you grow in understanding of what really matters so we can live better.
Do we pray this way, or do our prayers look a little more like a shopping list? A humble and sincere prayer can help prime our hearts to be more open to His will and His ways. We don't want to miss the Spirit's nudges because we have life out of focus.
Loving deeply and fully triggers a growing knowledge and understanding... not the other way around. We can't achieve "pure and blameless" on our own. He covers us with His unfailing love that restores our souls.
Love big. Love loud. Above all else... love.
Today, I am grateful for a love that grows and overflows.
