Daily Gratitude Year 12 - Day 141: Today, I am grateful we can choose our ruler.
"Be determined that your life is not going to be ruled by fear, but by God's word." - Unknown
One of the quotes I wrote in my Bible as a teen was "Whatever you make Lord of your life will, also, be your Shepherd." It still causes me to pause and think. It still sticks with me.
It is so easy to let the "other things" take over as "The Ruler" of our lives. It is not as God instructed or intended.
The world tells us to look for victory in "the wins" and the accolades of those around us. His Word reminds us that it is His heart we should be chasing and seeking. His arms are our resting place.
When He is Lord of our lives, fear cannot be our ruler. Fear and Faith do not cohabitate.
Moses had so many fear over faith moments, as is noted in Hebrews:
"It was by faith that Moses left the land of Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger. He kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible." -Hebrews 11:27
Keeping our eyes on the one who is invisible seems like an odd instruction, but it is where faith takes root and grows as we intentionally choose our Ruler and what we will allow to rule our lives.
Today, I am grateful we can choose our ruler.
