Tape

Year 5 - Day 160: Today, I am grateful for tape.

As I was thinking about today's gratitude, I was looking for tape. We have parties, gifts and showers this weekend. Full days and each event requires some kind of tape in preparation.

Tape runners help craft the cards.
Tape holds packages together.
Packing tape keeps boxes closed for better wrapping.

What would we do without tape? I have my favorite brands and show loyalty because they do not fail me when I need them to perform. Imagine if we had to substitute glue for all of those tasks where tape delivers something neat and clean.

The song "Love Will Hold Us Together" has been Earworm's tune this morning. Isn't that true. Love is like glue. Real love sticks. It holds us together through the joys and the sorrows.

Babies, weddings and graduations are celebrations that remind us of the precious value of love. Without, the celebrations would be... well... Hollywood shallow. I love the movies and there are some really amazing people in the industry, but it is mostly for entertainment and the relationship rollercoaster that seems to go with it is a wild ride. I salute the ones who can balance success, home and the life. They are a select few... who have figured out the secret to keeping it taped together.

Last night... we sat with our tribe around the table... at the pool... and encircling a fire. Family in love more than blood... but we stick. We are better together. Today... we will see some family tribe, make some memories and enjoy the gift of moments together. Time together... it strengthens the bond.

Life isn't always neat and easy like tape. But when it is, take it in and celebrate. The good moments matter. They strengthen us for the tough times that come with life.

Jesus had a circle of close friends and family. His human side needed the companionship and support and he craved time in prayer with God. He walked in love and love gave him the strength to endure the trials, tests and temptations.

Jesus has experienced human life and understands our deepest needs. He knows exactly what we need to keep it taped together. He knows the right tape for the need. We can trust him to hold us together. In Him, we can help tape each other up when needed. Love bears all things.

Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future.-Ephesians 4:2-4

This bears repeating...

"binding yourselves together with peace."

Today, I am grateful for tape.
