Daily Gratitude Year 7-Day 253: Today, I am grateful for the choice to do right.
Doing the right thing is not always the easiest path, but it is always the best. Mark Twain was so quirky... but he was articulate and wise, too. Add a dose of irreverence and that about sums him up. Along with this sense of humor... it was his common sense wisdom that kept people tuned in to see what he would say or write next.
"Always do right, this will gratify some people and astonish the rest." -Mark Twain
It is a simple truth. Consistency is shocking to some. No one is perfect... but if we can strive to be consistently loving and kind, it will positively impact the world around us. The scriptures say it pleases God, too. Sounds like a win-win!
"To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice." -Proverbs 21:3
"For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of man.-2 Corinthians 8:21
We get tired. We get frustrated. Life is not always fair. The cross wasn't fair, but Jesus took it anyway so we could be spared the price of our sins. Yes, we can lasso our tongues and beat down our pride. It isn't easy... but most often, it is the right thing to do.
Today, I am grateful for the choice to do right.
