Year 4-Day 5: Today, I am grateful for anything with sprinkles.
Isn't it funny, that something so little can make us smile. I have never thought to be grateful for sprinkles. If given a choice, it is the cupcake with sprinkles that is chosen over the one without. Sprinkles are full of happy.
Crystal sugar sprinkles on cupcakes. Chocolate sprinkles...like mini-chocolate chips...are impossible to eat with a grumpy face. Pecan sprinkles on a turtle brownie. Confetti sprinkles in frosting. Heart sprinkles on a sugar cookies. Dandelions sprinkling a yard (once you take a lesson from Eeyore and see them as flowers not weeds). Glitter sprinkles on a card catch the light and the heart. Sprinkles are not necessary...they are what take our blessing cups from full to overflowing.
And...of all the sprinkles...gratitude sprinkles are my favorite. A life sprinkled with gratitude is a better life.
What about a day sprinkled with prayer? Prayer at the stoplight. Prayer at the pencil sharpener. Prayer in the checkout line at the grocery store. Do we seek him in the sprinkles and with the sprinkles.
Romans 1:20-21 made me think today:
"For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened."
Sprinkles speak to the creative nature in all of us that came with our soul breath...the part of our nature that reflects a creative God. To honor Him and give thanks...even in short little moments... helps us to be more productive. Perhaps...sprinkles are not the "extra"... but the "necessary".
Psalm 16:11- You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Sprinkled gratitude lightens our load and pours light and joy into our every day activities.
Sprinkles have made the gratitude list for the first time...but not the last.
Today...I am grateful for sprinkles.
