Qui-Gon Jinn & Focus

Daily Gratitude Year 4-Day 155: Today, I am grateful for the ability to choose our focus.

Oh yes...choice is a part of the "soul breath" that makes man unique in God's creation. We can choose our focus. We cannot always control particular circumstances, but we can choose our focus, our attitude and our gratitude.

Eleanor Roosevelt said, "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." Who we are in the eyes of the world has very little value compared to how God sees us in the light of eternity. Eternity is a long time. To choose to focus on what matters and what makes a difference is a great way to spend our days. We can choose to do the work in service to the King.

That is why there is so much grace found in some of the most humble service moments.

Diaper changes.
Cleaning up after a sick loved one.
Washing dishes.
Taking care of garbage.
Mowing the lawn.
Mopping floors.

Making beds.
Chopping onions.
Washing bedding.
Weeding the garden.
Watering flowers.
Changing toilet paper.
Laundry.
Filling the car with gas.
Putting shoes on an elderly parent.
Giving a flustered mother your spot in the Wal-mart line.

We can focus on the task or we can celebrate that we can make a difference...even if it is in small ways...every day.

"Your focus determines your reality." -Qui-Gon Jinn

Where do we place our focus? Where do we grow?  Where do we learn.

"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." -2 Peter 3:18

Yes, we can choose our focus.

"looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. - Hebrews 12:2

Anikan looked to Qui-Gon Jinn.  Jesus is more. We can focus. We can "do the work" and learn from the Master. This is not always a fast process. This is the promise of  a life-long learning journey. We can... through His grace... endure the hardships and find joy in the humble tasks and the sacrifice. Jesus did.

"We have the power. We've been given gifts. We can choose how we use them.

"Choose you this day whom you will serve...But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15

Today, I am grateful for the ability to choose our focus...and a little Star Wars fun.
