Appreciation Is Holy

Daily Gratitude Year 13 - Day 176: Today, I am grateful that appreciation is a holy thing.

Every day the mirror reminds me that I am a far cry from "holy" but by God's grace I get to try again with each new sunrise.

"I believe that appreciation is a HOLY THING, that when we look for what's best in a person, we happen to be with at the moment, we're doing what God does all the time." -Fred Rogers

This quote from Fred Rogers is one of my favorites. God, in his holiness, intentionally looks for the best in us. He sees something redeeming and worth dying for when we are at our worst. How can that be? The answer might be that it is a "holy thing."

When we walk in His ways and learn from His word, we try to be more intentional, until it becomes reflexive and reflective of the His love and grace. We continue to get some things right, some things wrong, and some things are improving with each attempt. We are not yet perfect.

Look for the good around you and you will find it. Appreciate what you can... where you can. Showing appreciation has a positive effect on the giver and not just the receiver. It is a double win!

"They have been a wonderful encouragement to me, as they have been to you. You must show your appreciation to all who serve so well." -1 Corinthians 16:18

Paul is speaking of fellow believers who served to be an encouragement to him in his work.

Today, I am grateful that appreciation is a holy thing.
