Daily Gratitude Year 13 - Day 180: Today, I am grateful for the reminder not to hurry the things that take time. We are overwhelmed today with the "instant" approach to nearly everything. Some things are so much better if we let them unfold in time.
My zinnias do not hurry to bloom. Asparagus seeds take three years to full maturity. You can't hurry what God designed perfectly.
Baking is another example of haste makes waste. Let the bread rise. Let the flavors mix and meld for better results. The bake time has to be right.
Healing takes time, too. Our Lord forgives at the instant our hearts sincerely repent and change. Human emotions are a little more challenging. Grudges never bring good things.
"Healing takes time. There's a reason the Lord waited 22 years to reunite Joseph and his brothers. The lessons were found in the waiting." -Toby Mac, #Speak Life
We are not as wise as we think we are. There are lessons in waiting. Where you wait and how you wait impacts the outcome, too. Wait with anticipation, but not anxiety. Walk away from the things that destroy important relationships with loved ones and God.
Embrace the wait. Reject the impatience. Rest in the shelter of His love and grace.
"Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil. Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones. Today, I am grateful for the reminder not to hurry the things that take time. " -Proverbs 3:7-8
Today, I am grateful for the reminder not to hurry the things that take time.
