Daily Gratitude Year Eleven-Day 336- Today, I am grateful for the beauty in the humble tasks.
"The humblest tasks get beautified if loving hands do them." Louisa May Alcott, Little Women
What a beautiful observation she makes in that statement. The world is full of people looking for glory and recognition. There is something special about the ones who find joy in folding laundry, scrubbing toilets, stocking shelves, collecting eggs, changing diapers, washing dishes, mopping floors, and making beds.
The humble tasks in our ordinary days are opportunities to choose joy. When we see the beauty in the humble, we draw near the heart of God.
"Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world." -James 4:8
When the world was in desperate need of a Savior, He came. His birth was humble. His life was one of service. His heart was tender towards those who served. He saw the ones everyone else overlooked or ignored. Where there was brokenness, He saw beauty and offered hope.
Today, I am grateful for the beauty in the humble tasks.
