School Summer Break

Daily Gratitude Year 13 - Day 143: Today, I am grateful for the school summer break.

I no longer get a summer break, but I enjoyed almost a two month break for a decade. It was good.  Summer school vacation for our district. It is time to set the children (and their teachers) free.

Summer is good for the soul. I am excited about the many local festivals to come and the special events that require spring and summer temperatures. Starry summer nights, warm days, cool evening breezes and the flowers from seed are popping up.

In this high tech world, listen for the sounds of children playing outside. Natural vitamin D is good for the soul. Reading outside, playing ball, digging in the dirt, pool play, and walking the neighborhood with friends are still great ways to spend summer days. Mowing elderly neighbors' lawns is a great way to surprise someone with kindness.

"You set the boundaries of the earth, and you made both summer and winter." -Psalm 74:17

Enjoy the summer. Set some healthy boundaries to keep everyone safe, learning, and rested. Head to the Library to sign up for Summer Reading.

Today, I am grateful for the school summer break.
