Daily Gratitude Year 12 - Day 197 - Today, I am grateful for revelations in the deepest wounds.
Pain causes us to pause. In 2007, I experienced nerve damage that has left me with strange pain in odd places and no feeling in others. The big reveal has been that pain is not our enemy. Pain sends the brain a message to stop doing something. Pain is, at times, an unpleasant companion with a purpose.
"In my deepest wound I saw your glory and it astounded me." -Saint Augustine
Wow! That is a powerful statement.
Human nature wants pain to go away. No one likes discomfort. At times, we learn to live with it. Some wounds are physical. Others are emotional. Both can cripple us if we cannot find the purpose in our pain.
Pain reveals so many things. Patient in affliction.
"Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer." - Romans 12:12
In tribulation... in our troubles... in affliction... be constant in prayer. It is powerful stuff.
"Our deepest wounds reveal His glory." His faithfulness is real. We experience it when we kneel. Be constant in prayer.
Today, I am grateful for revelations in the deepest wounds.
