Daily Gratitude Year 5-Day 17: Today, I am grateful we can be captivated with purpose.
I just met a guy. Okay, so I haven't actually met him, but we are doing a Bible Study on Sunday mornings. His name is Bob Goff. He said this:
"Don't be enticed by success or scared by failure, be captivated with purpose."
Have you ever been arrogantly dismissed by someone who asks, "Why is she here?". Not exactly a warm welcome. Nothing feels worse than feeling like you don't belong.
God says, "That's crazy talk!" Maybe not in those words, but here is one verse that resonates:
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.-Romans 8:28
We know. Be confident. God works. He doesn't sleep. We have a purpose. We are on his team.
"According to his purpose", not my agenda. This passage is not just a passage for comfort and promise. I think it is a passage for reassessment, too. We are called to be captivated with his purpose. Not driven by success or frightened by failure. We belong to him and he has all kinds of adventures in store, if we let him lead.
Feeling left out, unworthy. unqualified and not good enough is something that gets in the way of joy. It can sabotage our purpose. Love draws a circle that welcomes people in.
We were called to go, to do and to love. Say yes to love. Love out loud.
Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.-Romans 12:9
We've work to do.
Today, I am grateful we can be captivated with purpose.
