What? I know. It is early. "Blessed is she who believes"...
Elizabeth spoke these words when her young relative, Mary, arrived at her door. Elizabeth was pregnant with John (the Baptist) and Mary was grasping the truth that in her virgin state, Jesus was growing inside her. A breath of heaven to the earth, coming to life.
Feelings can be so confusing. They are easily altered by the littlest things. Not enough sleep. Hunger. Misunderstandings. Disappointment. Grief. Infatuation... and, yes... love can be blinding.
Human emotions are not always reliable. This is why belief is so important . We cannot always trust what we feel.
Elizabeth and Mary knew what they believed.
"Lord, grant me eyes to see your truth, but when vision is blurry, strengthen my heart to believe without a doubt. You are enough. You always keep your word. Thank you for being a solid rock in an ever changing world. " - Amen
Today, I am grateful that what we believe is more important than what we feel.
