Dance

Vera-Ellen and Gene Kelly (Words & Music, 1948)
Daily Gratitude Year 5- Day 132: Today, I am grateful for for the moments you have to dance.

Some weeks feel like forever. Other times, right in the middle of an ordinary life someone hits the "fast forward" button and you woosh through a month so quickly it makes you dizzy. That is May.

May has a way of blindsiding us. It has the business and costliness of December, but it sneaks up on us every year. December - we focus on Christmas. May is weddings, graduations, anniversaries, Mother's Day and whatever else unique to your family pops up.

There are times I want to figure out how to tie a knot and hang on. It feels like panic mode... trying to make it all fit and work. What I really want to learn to do is put on the dancing shoes.

Look at Vera and Gene in the picture. Feel the rhythm? They are in the moment. They are the dance!

“When a great moment knocks on the door of your life, it is often no louder than the beating of your heart, and it is very easy to miss it. ” ― Boris Pasternak

So many of my favorite Bible heros... they had no idea they were headed for greatness. Some stepped out of comfort and into the moment. The whisper that said, "This is your time. This is your dance." They were not seeking fame or fortune. They sought to match their heartbeat to the Lord of their life.

And David danced before the Lord with all his might. -2 Samuel 6:14

Solomon included dance in the wisdom of his famous Ecclesiastes passage:

a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; -Ecclesiastes 3:4

So... what are we waiting for. May is upon us. The calendar is full. Put on your dancing shoes and dance. Or better yet... dance barefoot under the moon. The madness of May will be a memory all to soon.

How about a little Stephen Curtis Chapman to get our earworms singing. It is one of my earworm's favorites. He is the "Lord of the Dance". He is!
