Daily Gratitude Year Eleven-Day 294 - Today, I am grateful for certainty in the uncertain.
"If what's ahead scares you and what's behind hurts you, just look above. He never fails you."
There are times in our lives that we feel as if we are standing at some kind of a crossroads. We know that things are changing, but we don't know what that really means. Time always unfolds one day at a time, but we do not know what each day will bring.
This comes when we go from single to married... from couplehood to parenthood... from toddlers to teens to aging parents... and eventually, one will place the other in the tender arms of our loving God. Loss of health, divorce, loss of parents or a child, and other unexpected twists can leave even those with the strongest core faith hurting and exhausted.
It is in the scariest times that we learn to throw our arms up in surrender. "Thy will be done." Then, we can begin to fully lean into the shelter of His arms.
“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?" -Matthew 6:25-26
There is no need to worry, when things are scary. He never fails us.
Today, I am grateful for certainty in the uncertain.
