Daily Gratitude Year Eleven-Day 297- Today, I am grateful for the knowledge that leads to good judgement.
We have a respect for gravity, the sea, moving traffic, and even for stormy weather. When did man lose a sense of fear and reverence for the God of the Universe?
We like to picture him like Father Time or Santa Claus. The truth is, our God is multifaceted. Yes, He is good, loving and kind. He is, also, just. Justness requires justice. There are consequences for ignoring his laws.
We know not to ignore gravity or the dangers in the sea. We know to look both ways in moving traffic. We know to obey weather warnings and sirens. Why do we lack a respectful fear of an omnipotent God? He is omniscient and omnipresent. Nothing we say or do is unknown. We cannot hide. Yet, we still make less than good choices at times.
Yes, being human means we fail. Failure is not permanent unless we give up.
" Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment." -Proverbs 9:10
In our failures, he finds beauty in our brokenness. In our sincere repentance, his grace stretches deep and wide. We try to do better each time we fall. He helps pick us up and delights when we figure something out.
Today, I am grateful for the knowledge that leads to good judgement.
