Growth Mindset

Daily Gratitude Year 13 - Day 304: Today, I am grateful for a growth mindset.

"Before you reject an idea, find at least five good things about it." -Thomas A. Edison

This is a great leadership and innovation quote, worthy of putting into practice. Human nature says, "We've never done it that way." Or perhaps, "It will never work." Innovation says, "What might the benefits be?" Resisting what is comfortable for something new can be scary, but the outcomes can be game changers.

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline."  -2 Timothy 1:7

A growth mindset is good for humans. Trying new things... things we cannot do "yet," keep us exploring new ideas. Time, failure, creativity, and more are packed into the practice. Negativity is rejected for focusing on what we learn from failure. Some of my favorite inventions were failures, like the "Post-It" note. The fact it didn't stay stuck became the magic that was eventually embraced and is now used daily in homes and offices.

Knowledge is not enough. Try crazy things. Fail with the wild abandon that comes with courage. Speak of the possibilities first, then begin building.

Today, I am grateful for a growth mindset.
