Two Types of Tired

Daily Gratitude Year 13 - Day 274: Today, I am grateful for two types of tired.

To fix a problem, we need a proper diagnosis. It seems that everyone is tired these days. Schedules are full. Time seems too short most days for what needs to be accomplished. We get up early and stay up late, sometimes all in the same day.

"There are two types of tired" one that requires rest, and one that requires peace." -unknown

Physical "tiredness" is real but so is a spiritual weariness. Both can reap havoc with our health. I have observed that there is a difference. Physical weariness can be solved with physical rest.

Spiritual weariness is different. It can steal our sleep and so much more. It zaps our daily strength and a nap won't cure it. Trying to do life on our own is hard. It is better with Jesus. God's Word sits on a table or shelf... unopened... while we try to fix things on our own. That, my friend, leads to a tiredness that cannot be conquered.

"I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!" -John 15:9-11

Many savor the tiredness that results from a good work out. It stretches the body for good. Some crave a good work out.

In the same way, we can find spiritual workouts in our daily devotions, keeping daily gratitude, prayer, and just a little walk with Jesus. His Spirit is with us. It is okay to talk to Him... and do not be alarmed by His response.

When we find ourselves weary, it might be good to first evaluate the source of the tired.

Today, I am grateful for two types of tired.
