Brothers and Sisters

Daily Gratitude Year 10-Day 256: Today, I am grateful for brothers and sisters.

God gives us brothers and sisters in different ways. They help shape us in ways we don't always easily see or understand until much later in life.

Some come by birth, some by marriage, some by shared faith, and some through shared loss.

There are brothers and sisters who protect, rescue and serve together. They defend us from enemies, dangers and destruction. They do it arm in arm.

Brothers and sisters do not always agree on everything. They teach us the power of learning to pick your battles. They teach us forgiveness.

One of the beautiful things about being "family", however it is created and defined, is that it is a constant living example to bear all things in love.

When this letter was written to the Philippians, I imagine it was in response to some brotherly and sisterly disagreements.

"Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose." - Philippians 2:1-2

Love can't always make it better, but by the blood of Jesus... love covers our imperfections with mercy and grace.

Today, I am grateful for bothers and sisters.
