Palm Sunday

Daily Gratitude Year Eleven- Day 91: Today, I am grateful for Palm Sunday.

Palm Sunday officially marks the beginning of Holy Week. It is full of reminders of prophecies being fulfilled, a new covenant, remembering the cross, and the anticipation of Sunday morning.

Although the Old Testament was full of prophecies that Jesus fulfilled, many would not see.

Are there times when we think if we don't look or see something, we won't be held accountable? There is an old saying that "Ignorance is bliss." Ask anyone who did not see a speed limit posted and received a ticket anyway if ignorance is bliss.

Palm Sunday is about the triumphal entry with loud "Hosannas!" Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. (Earworm is singing the old Michael W. Smith song with those lyrics, and it will be stuck in my head.)

Whether we recognize him or not, He is Lord of the Sabbath.

"I tell you, there is one here who is even greater than the Temple! But you would not have condemned my innocent disciples if you knew the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’ For the Son of Man is Lord, even over the Sabbath!” -Matthew 12:6-8

Holy week is special. Pause, ponder, and pray.

Today, I am grateful for Palm Sunday.
