Take Up Our Cross

 

 Gratitude Year 12- Day 215: I am grateful for reminders to "take up our cross." 

"But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves." -James 1:22

This is quite a scripture combination. The reminder that we are to deny ourselves and pick up our cross to follow him daily. We must not only "hear" the Word... we must "do the Word."

No promises of an easy road. In fact, quite the opposite. Why in the world would anyone sign up for that? Why? 

The answer may seem odd, but in Christ, there is peace in the valleys, respite in the suffering, and hope in any outcome. He is our strength, our hiding place, our companion, and our friend. 

Let there be peace in the valley and calm in the storms. Our God reigns.
