Common Sense

Gratitude Year 12- Day 214: I am grateful for common sense... but it is not that common.

"Mankind invented the atomic bomb, but no mouse would ever construct a mousetrap." -Albert Einstein

Think about that for a minute. It is a bold but simple truth. Intelligence does not make a person wise. Just because we can do something does not mean we should.

Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!" -Deuteronomy 30:19

This passage is the reminder that man has the power of choice. The ability to deny our nature and choose what is good, honorable, and true separates us from other animals. Some good choices are common sense. Others require contemplation and a decision. Choice is our God-given superpower.

I am grateful for common sense... but it is not that common.
