Daily Gratitude Year Eleven-Day 310- Today, I am grateful for moments when "time just is."
"Time doesn't seem to pass here, it just is." -JRR Tolkien
A room full of books, we call a library. Books have been around for 1000's of years, but for many of those years, only the rich could bring them home. A public library really is a beautiful thing.
Books are such good company. When lost in a good book, it is as if "time just is." You do not even know that it is passing. It is as if time stands still.
I could not help but think of the battle Joshua and the Israelites fought when the sun stood still and the moon stayed in place until they had defeated the Amorites.
"So the sun stood still and the moon stayed in place until the nation of Israel had defeated its enemies. Is this event not recorded in The Book of Jashar? The sun stayed in the middle of the sky, and it did not set as on a normal day." -Joshua 10:13
When lost in a good book, time does not really stand still as it did for an important battle to be won, but it does grant us a small reprieve from the daily busyness of our days. It is always a gift.
Today, I am grateful for moments when "time just is."
