Veterans Day

Daily Gratitude Year 10-Day 313:  Today, I am grateful for Veterans Day.

"The eleventh hour, on the eleventh day in the eleventh month... in the year 1918. The treaty was signed and the war was declared over.  One year later, they celebrated the anniversary of the end of WW1.

It was an ugly war. All wars are ugly, but this one was felt deeply by many. The losses were great on all sides.  Still today, in Europe, Great Britain and the Commonwealth countries,  it is common to observe two minutes of silence at 11 a.m. every November 11.

Wars destroy families, villages and relationships. Love is better than hate. Peace is better than war. Still, there are times when justice cannot be silent and action is required.

Our family is full of Vets... Dad, Uncle Mel, April... and David and James (who are still serving) and so many more. Great Uncles served before them. My heart is full of gratitude for their service.

Randy's side has another list including a brother and a cousin.  There are so many more. If I tried, I would forget someone.

“Veterans know better than anyone else the price of freedom, for they’ve suffered the scars of war. We can offer them no better tribute than to protect what they have won for us.” - Ronald Reagan

Freedom isn't free.

Jesus purchased the ultimate freedoms so we might be made clean and new. Death tried to claim him, but the grave couldn't hold him down. He was victorious so we could be conquerors. He took the cross on special assignment. Heaven's angels were ready for him to call out, but he finished the mission. He declared: "It is finished." before he released His Spirit.

Thank a Veteran today.

Today, I am grateful for Veterans Day.
