A popular quote on optimism is "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade."
This is the season of lemonade stands, lemon shake ups, and fresh lemonade. We always had a pitcher of tea and a pitcher of lemonade on the table. Every day and every meal.
I do not recall Dad ever playing a game of golf, but an "Arnold Palmer" was his drink at every meal. He would drink the lemonade without the iced tea, but I do not believe I saw him drink the tea without the lemonade. It was how they did marriage. Mama was a tea drinker. Dad liked sweet drinks.
What's not to love about lemonade? The perfect blend of tart and sweet. From the classic recipe to all of the fancy options, it declares summer's goodness in every sip.
I could not think about the idea that time with the Lord in the scriptures is a little like a tall glass of lemonade. Refreshing and satisfying.
