Daily Gratitude Year 14-Day 201: Today, I am grateful we can walk in the light.
It is safer to walk, run, and even ride a bike in the light. We see better in the light; we are seen better in the light. The element of safety is real.
Of course, we are in the middle of blazing summer heat, and it is so much cooler to get some things done before the sun makes the day even hotter. Daybreak and sunset always seem a little bit magical. Each day begins and ends with a watercolor canvas in the sky and nature sings.
With the dawn comes the light that supports and leads to life. I have been observing that my zinnias planted at the same time are greatly impacted by the amount of sunlight that bathes their days. There are more blooms where there are longer periods of sun. The rest will bloom, too, but not as quickly. How much light they receive makes the difference.
When we walk in the light, it still takes time for "the Light" to do its powerful work. It takes time. It requires our time, attention and commitment in a world that is obsessed with easy fixes. How much time do we spend "in the light?" Salvation is gifted in an instant, but finishing the race takes a lifetime. There is always room to learn and grow.
"But if we walk in the light, as, he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin." -1 John 1:7
"Walking in the Light" represents living according to God's will and truth. Fellowship is our shared spiritual connection among believers. Jesus' sacrificial role in purification from sin changes everything.
Today, I am grateful we can walk in the light.
