Daily Gratitude Year Eleven-Day 181- Today, I am grateful for common sense.
"Common sense is not so common." - Voltaire
I love that quote!
Common sense is not something you can teach, although you can teach critical thinking skills. Common sense is highly valued, and it should be. In a crisis situation, common sense saves lives.
In many fields, common sense is more desirable than high test scores and academic achievement. What poses big problems for some, others manage with a dose of common sense.
Remember going to your mother with some ache or pain and telling her, "It hurts when I do 'this.", whatever it happened to be? What was her response? "Then don't do that." It makes me smile. And, yes, I have responded with that same line, "Then don't do that."
If you are ever around people who work with animals, take a minute to observe how they lead, guide, direct, or out maneuver the animals in their care. They make it look easy. Common sense comes into play, quite often.
"He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity." -Proverbs 2:7
Today, I am grateful for common sense.
