I have always loved that J.R.R. Tolkien quote. The older I get, the more I appreciate the sentiment. Slowing down, listening to our surroundings, and taking it all in are as much a part of living well as out long "to do" lists. In fact, it may be more important than "the list."
I love looking at the stories of the ordinary people who displayed great faith. Hebrews is loaded with them. Chapter 11 is one I have always wanted to memorize. Sometimes they did not completely understand the path, but they chose to trust The One who would make a way.
"All these people died still believing what God had promised them. They did not receive what was promised, but they saw it all from a distance and welcomed it. They agreed that they were foreigners and nomads here on earth." -Hebrews 11:13
Nomads and foreigners... not too attached to anything.
Today, I am grateful "Not all who wander are lost."
