Daily Gratitude Year 12 - Day 40: Today, I am grateful for 40 days.
The first forty days of 2024 have had their fill of laughter, love, tears, friends, and family.
40 Days is more than a month. Most of us can commit to just about anything for 40 days. It is almost 6 weeks. I have heard it said that it takes about 6 weeks to form a new habit. Making a change requires diligence and consistency.
40 days is doable. Right?
Noah, Moses, Elijah, and Jesus had seasons where 40 days marked something important. Some had multiple. Many of the 40 day assignments were times of trials and testing. The one I find the most interesting and the least written about were the 40 days after the resurrection.
"Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written."-John 21:25
"He presented himself alive to them after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God." -Acts 1:3
There are just a few verses between the two passages. It was a busy 40 days for Jesus, and then he returned to the Father.
What a homecoming it must have been. As the earth wept, Heaven rejoiced.
Today, I am grateful for 40 days.
