What are you waiting for?

Year 5 - Day 153: Today, I am grateful we can eagerly wait... but live and love in the moment.

What are we waiting for? The gift of this day will come but once and will quickly slip away. 24 hours goes by so fast. For that matter... so does 30 years. Blink and wonder where it went.

God's clock is not our clock. He is the master of time and space. The older we get, the faster time moves. For the things that matter, why wait?

Some things require a wait, and the wait makes the outcome better. Impatience can cheat ourselves of God's best for our lives.

"so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him." -Hebrews 9:28

"Eagerly wait". In the second coming... it is for "those who are eagerly waiting for him."

How do we do that? Life offers so many distractions and things that look like priorities. But, what really matters? We are to be wise, good financial stewards, compassionate and protective of children, widows and orphans, servants, leaders, lovers and friends. What are we waiting for?

"Love me. Love each other." That is the commission and the mission. It is the plan from his heart, his mind and his hand.

Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.  For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end. -Hebrews 3:12-14

"Take care, brothers" and sisters. Take care of your hearts and each other. We are all in this together. Taste the sunshine and dance in the rain. Embrace each other in love and service.

Today, I am grateful we can eagerly wait... but live and love in the moment.
