Gratitude Year 12- Day 177: Today, I am grateful we can embrace the life we have.
"Occasionally, weep deeply over the life you hoped would be. Grieve the losses. Then wash your face. Trust God. And embrace the life you have." -John Piper
Sometimes a quote hits the bullseye. This one did that for me. Wow! It is succinct and full of wisdom.
Society today seems to struggle with letting us feel the pain we have every right to feel. Grief is hard. It hurts. It comes in unpredictable waves. It is deep and wide.
Tears help wash the grief away. A good hot shower is still an amazing place to cry. Then, towel off and face the new day clean and renewed.
I have always said deep grief can only exist where there has been a deep love. Love never dies or is replaced, it just lives in a different space.
Seasons change. A life after loss is different, but that does not mean it will never be good... or even great... again. Healing takes time. A good cry can speed it along.
We can write down the things we never want to forget and then embrace the life we have today... in this moment... and tomorrow, too.
"Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. -Romans 12:15
Today, I am grateful we can embrace the life we have.
