Restoration

Daily Gratitude Year Eleven-Day 292 - Today, I am grateful for restoration.

I love seeing old things gain new life. Pinterest is a dangerous place. There are endless before and after  pictures of old items gaining new life. Furniture gaining a new life or a second life with repurposing are some of my favorite pages to explore.

We humans can mess things  up. We get distracted. We spill things. We break things. We wear things out with careless use. Thank goodness we have a God who loves us enough to find the beauty in our brokenness and the patience to meet us where we are.

"In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation." -1 Peter 5:10

Some things are even more beautiful after they have been broken and restored. The same is true for us.

"The Velveteen Rabbit" was the first children's book I realized had great value and wisdom far beyond the children's bookshelf. It says: “Real isn't how you are made,' said the Skin Horse. 'It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.'"

He gives "beauty for ashes."

Today, I am grateful for restoration.
