Daily Gratitude Year 7- Day 359: Today, I am grateful to be remembered.
There is joy in being remembered. My heart aches for those who suffer from Alzheimer's, dementia and other diseases that steal the memory. Memories are precious. Sharing memories helps us build deep, beautiful and rich relationships. Reminiscing at holidays is one of the things that makes the celebrations special.
Isn't it amazing that our God remembered the promises he made to Abraham? Abraham's children passed on the stories of God's faithfulness and sparked faith into the next generation. He did not abandon Naomi and Ruth. He was near Moses, Daniel, David, Solomon, Zechariah, Peter, Martha, Mary and Paul.
"When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers— the moon and the stars you set in place— what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?" -Psalm 8:3-4
Isn't it amazing... and hard to comprehend? Our minds struggle to conceive what he has in store. His plans are so often unexpected. Our human nature struggles to commit and submit to a God who only wants the best for us. Why? It all goes back to the gift of free will. He didn't want minions to command, he wanted a relationship that would stand.
We can be fearless in the face of eternity, because God took human form to understand us, to rescue us, to defend us, to purchase our freedom and to make a way. He does not forsake or abandon his children.
Today, I am grateful to be remembered.
