Something Better

Year 8-Day 245: Today, I am grateful we can choose something new... something better.

"Interesting how we often choose the comfort and habit of something faulty just to avoid the effort required to adapt to something new. Something better." -Priscilla Shirer

The quote basically spells out the natural human to resist the path that requires the most effort. We find shortcuts though back-roads when we drive. Sometimes, the new way is better, but we cling to our comfortable habits.

One of my favorite things about the Bible is that it is filled with ordinary people who end up doing extraordinary things. They don't set out to be the story people all remember. They begin their journey (or recalculate in the middle of their story) aligning their wants and desires with God's.

"Thy will be done." It is the way to pray and His directions are always good. God has always used available resources. He made man from the dust when He breathed life into him. He used a rib from the man to create woman. He designed our bodies to heal themselves with proper rest and nourishment. He speaks order into the universe and our tiny little planet is held perfectly in place, just the right distance from the sun to sustain our human form.

When the Creator of the Universe calls us to something new, we often resist. We can choose to pause and pray. We can choose to adapt and to try something new.

"See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland." -Isaiah 43:19

Live the adventure. Live for something better than the world has to offer.

Today, I am grateful we can choose something new... something better.
