Recalculating

Year 8-Day 244: Today, I am grateful for opportunities to recalculate.

"Often we miss the amazing adventure God want to lead on because we are too afraid to trust him. We must trust that God has already made a way. Though the odds may be against us, our God is for us." -Lisa Bevere

There are times I use the GPS in the car. There are times I set the GPS and choose to go my own way. Now, the GPS is imperfect, but it surely makes life easier when navigating new and strange places. Most of the time, it hits the mark. Me on my own, not so much.

Still, there are times when something in my gut fights the GPS. Sometimes, my gut is right... other times, it leads me down a path of senseless turns and wrong way streets. It can even be dangerous.

In our prayer life, we can seek His guidance. God's Protection System is perfect. It never fails. We can seek His face. We can trust the doors to close and the windows to open. There may be dark hallways where we are instructed to wait. The hallways can feel like the longest red lights. Truthfully, it is often after the endless pauses that God throws open the door and we clearly know to walk through it.

"There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death." -Proverbs 14:12

We can recalculate. We can make adjustments because of something we see in His Word, the right song at the right time or in the many other ways God speaks. Recalculating is not failure. It is adjusting the course to stay on track, with our focus on the goal.

What is the goal? To seek his face and to allow him to direct our paths as we make our lives a living sacrifice. This is reasonable, fulfilling, and terrifying at times. Even when scary, it is the path that leads to peace and joy.

Some days and some seasons, we may feel as if we are heading the wrong way down a one way street. Are we trusting the GPS or God's Protection System? There is no day like today to recalculate.

Today, I am grateful for opportunities to recalculate.
