Pumpkin Harvest

Daily Gratitude Year 9 - Day 257: Today, I am grateful for the pumpkin harvest.

Whether you are a pumpkin addict, a casual consumer or a holiday pie person, pumpkin shows up on many tables all year long. Yes, it is considered a fall and winter food, but so many recipes use pumpkin in ways that make it user friendly in all seasons.

Our little village is witness to the pumpkins being trucked to the plant for processing and canning each fall. Pumpkin Pack starts in August and goes through part of October. About 85% of Libby's (Nestle) pumpkins is processed about a mile from our house. It is fascinating to watch the trucks dumping pumpkins.

" ...as streams renew the desert.  Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest" Psalm 126:4-6

I am grateful for those who do the work of the harvest. It is a time of celebration and joy. It can be a dangerous time, too, for all who take to the fields for the harvest.

Today, I am grateful for the pumpkin harvest.
