Innkeepers

Daily Gratitude Year Eleven-Day 352- Today, I am grateful for the innkeepers.

"And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn." -Luke 2:7

I am grateful for the innkeeper who compassionately offered the young, weary, and pregnant couple shelter in his stable. He wasn't expecting them. The inn was full. He could not kick another guest out of an already occupied room.

I cannot imagine the man's distress, especially if he had a wife who saw the young woman near birth. We do not know for sure, as the scriptures do not say, but I suspect he would have needed the partnership of a wife to run the inn.

Like the innkeeper, we have to decide if we want to make room for Jesus. Each one of us decides if we will make room in our lives and in our hearts. He will not make demands. He will not push. We must invite Him in.

Today, I am grateful for the innkeepers.
