Good News

The news is sensational, biased and often ugly. Today, I want to remember to celebrate the "Good News".

Tim Buetel is our Jr High Choir teacher. In the past twelve months, Tim and his quartet, "After Hours", won first place in the most prestigious international barbershop competition.

Yes... international! He spends his days teaching elementary and middle school children the art of vocal music. He braves a Jr. High musical each year... AND he is a positive force in our community. I can't say enough good about this guy.

His talent allows him an international stage to be salt and light. He carries the real Good News in his heart and wears it in his smile. And, he is a Cubs fan.

Jesus disciples once begged him to stay in a particular place, but he chose to go. His love for us and obedience to the Father required him to keep moving. He needed to fulfill his mission and his purpose.

"But he replied, “I must preach the Good News of the Kingdom of God in other towns, too, because that is why I was sent.” " -Luke 4:43

He knew his mission and purpose. He followed the path placed before him with obedience. Some days it was pure joy. Other days were hard. Still, he pressed on, carrying the Good News and then carrying the cross.

Tim and After Hours have had countless hours of practice. Not every competition ended as they hoped. They kept singing, pressed on and refined their talents. Today, Tim and After Hours are on the TODAY show somewhere around 8:30. Take time to watch a little good news.

Today, I am grateful for good news.
