Generosity Increases Happiness

Year 9- Day 36: Today, I am grateful generosity increases happiness.

"The happiest people are the givers, not the takers."

Generosity is contagious. We see it most at the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons, but there is always room for a little more kindness and a little more giving in the world.

"Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." -2 Corinthians 9:7

One of the most amazing things about God's instructions is that following them leads to peace and contentment.
Giving cheerfully increases the happiness of the giver as much as it does the receiver. Perhaps, even more.

My Dad used to always say, "You can't out give God." It is actually quite Biblical:

"Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” -Luke 6:38

Generosity poured out and into the lives of others is one way of serving God. Happiness appears to be a by-product. Sounds like a win-win.

Today, I am grateful generosity increases happiness.
