To Be Really Alive

         

Daily Gratitude Year Eleven- Day 65: Today, I am grateful to be fully alive.

There is so much emptiness in the world. The evidence covers the front of magazines and fills our homes with stuff. The message on the television and YouTube is always more about more stuff. But more stuff is not the answer. 

Wealth can buy moments of fun and temporary friends, but there is something about the people who are willing to sit with us when life hurts... that is where we learn to be fully alive. 

I love this passage:

“Look at that man, bloated by self-importance— full of himself but soul-empty. But the person in right standing before God through loyal and steady believing is fully alive, really alive." Habakkuk 2:4 (The Message)            

Yes, we are fully alive when we know we are in a relationship with The One who designed us with a "soul hole" that only he can fill. He gave us other people to sit with us in the joys and in the griefs of life. 

Anyone will join the party when things are good; those willing to sit with us in our trials and point to the beautiful trinity of the One True God... these are the friends who help become fully alive. 

 Today, I am grateful to be fully alive.
