Year 6-Day 6: Today, I am grateful for ways to make the house brighter.
This not my window... but I would love to sit in it and sip coffee and read.
On my quest to not only survive, but thrive this January, I am reminded that there are ways to make the house brighter. Open the curtains and lift the shades wide open. Any heat lost is worth the exchange. Warm, sunny light that pours in a window or sliding door is mood elevating. Winter sun is a precious commodity.
Items made of glass are lovely and let the light pour through as complimentary decor after the Christmas decorations are put away.
Light colored pillows and fluffy, creamy accessories add a brightness and a warmth that reduces the winter's chill, even if most of it is in our mind. Mind over matter can be very effective.
Clean a messy spot... and watch the light filter into new places.
Move some furniture around to make the most of a sunny spot.
Strategically place a mirror to reflect more sunlight.
It is truly amazing what adding a little light can do. Makes me think of this this verse:
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. -Genesis 1:3-4a
Sweet is the charm of winter light through an uncovered window. It is good. Pile on the layers of clothing... but let your windows be naked.
Today, I am grateful for ways to make the house brighter.
