Year 6 - Day 194: Today, I am grateful for pieces that fall into place.
Worry and anxiety are big. Everyone has moments and situations that take them to that ugly place of fear, but our God wants more for us. He longs for us to trust and obey. Obedience takes trust. Trust leads to obedience.
He wants us to trust him, no matter the situation. We need to be active participants in our faith walks, but when the situation becomes tense... he longs for us to respond with childlike faith. Easier said than done, right? Still... like all things... practice enhances our skills.
My nephew gets these "Speak Life" images from Toby Mac. I love when he shares them.
"Someday you will see that it wasn't falling apart, it was falling into place." -Toby Mac
My mind immediately went to the life of Joseph. Joseph was sold by his brothers...his own brothers... into slavery. He was jailed unfairly for years for refusing the advances of his boss's wife. Eventually, his character and God's faithfulness brought his life full circle. He ended up in charge of the Pharaohs storehouses during famine and finding restoration of relationship with his family. Joseph's entire life was a series of messes, mayhem and making God his best friend and constant companion. In the end, the pieces fell into place in a way so complicated that only God could have designed the story. His life reads like a crazy fiction novel.
Joseph continued to seek God with his whole heart and God moved painfully slow, but in amazing ways. He learned to bend when others would have broken, because his God was always bigger than his troubles.
If your life is in pieces on this day, don't fret. Your story isn't over. Learning to find contentment in the hard places... like Joseph did... is powerful. Letting go of the plan and embracing the plot twist and reminding yourself that your story is not over. The broken, messy pieces do fall into place when we trust the Master's hand.
An interesting passage from Hebrews talks about how to please God and increase intimacy with him.
"Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”-Hebrews 13:15
Joseph made his life a living sacrifice. He knew jail... and he knew power and fame. In time, the pieces all fell into place. We can learn so much from his life. We can trust God's hand in our own timelines.
Today, I am grateful for pieces that fall into place.
