Daily Gratitude Year 9 - Day 305: Today, I am grateful for the correct measurement instruments.
Using the wrong measurement tool can be disastrous. Ask a seamstress, carpenter, architect, pharmacist, doctor, or cook. The right tool for the job is important. Especially, when it is a measurement tool.
This quote struck me with its simple wisdom:
"I don't want to be successful, I want to be useful." -John MacArthur
How do we measure a man or woman in our society? Success is often the measurement tool. There is much more wisdom in seeking to be useful. Successful people make money. Useful people change lives. Successful people can be useful, too, but there are so many temptations with fame and fortune, many lose their way.
The Bible has examples of both. There were a few who used their wealth and influence to point people to the Way, the Truth and the Life. Many missed the Messiah because they were looking for someone with wealth and influence. A simple carpenter by trade was overlooked and not believed. Until, he did the impossible.
Three days. Is that a measure of anything? The evidence is clear:
They will mock him, spit on him, flog him with a whip, and kill him, but after three days he will rise again.” -Mark 10:34
The correct measurement in this case was three days.
Today, I am grateful for the correct measurement instruments.
